Spring Term 2023 Refunding

Aid Disbursement & Student Refunds

If you have not enrolled in eRefunds, do that now. If you are already enrolled, please check your bank account to make sure it is still correct or update it if it is not.

Federal regulations determine when the University can begin disbursement of financial aid (including loans) each term. We begin disbursing aid for Spring 2023 on January 1, 2023. When the financial aid applies to the account, it may create a credit balance. Credit balances are automatically refunded to the eRefund bank account the student (not the Authorized Users) designated on the eRefund tab in PittPAY.

Daily automated refunding will begin on January 3, 2023.

When you see the “Refund” transaction on the Account Activity tab in PittPAY, you know your refund is being processed and do not need to contact us unless you have questions. Also, you will receive an email from PittPAY letting you know your refund is on its way to your bank account. The funds will be deposited to your bank within 2-3 business days.

Automatic refunding is temporarily suspended from January 9 to January 22

During the add/drop period, automatic refunding is suspended.  It resumes on Monday, January 23.  If a credit balance is created on your account between January 9 through January 20, you may either wait until refunding resumes on January 23 to get your refund through the automatic process, or you can email payments@pitt.edu from your campus email to request a manual refund.  To request a manual refund:

  1. First, check the Account Activity tab in PittPAY to be sure you have a credit balance that hasn’t already been refunded to you.
  2. Make sure you are enrolled in eRefunds on the student side of PittPAY (you must be logged in with your student username and password).
  3. Include your 7-digit student ID in your request for a manual refund.  Send it to payments@pitt.edu.

Complete your loan requirements.
Make sure your
loan requirements are complete so your aid can be released to apply to your account.
